Launched last season, this mascara from Maybelline's Volum Express line is a must have. Did you know that mascara was invented in 1914 by T.L Williams who noticed his sister Maybel applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her lashes? He adapted it then sold it locally in stores, naming the product Maybelline, and the rest is history. If only T.L and Maybel Williams could see the company Maybelline has grown into today!
First off, I love the look of this product. Maybelline is known for it's bright (sometimes adolescent looking) packaging and promotion but, makeup is supposed to be fun right? The brush creates bold volume but is not so chunky that you feel like you're applying your mascara with a hockey stick. The short fine bristles below the longer bristles add volume and length for that quasi-fake lash look.
Better than the brush is the formula itself. While it is not advertised to have Lycra or such an ingredient, this mascara feels like rubber on your lashes even after multiple coats. No clumping, no flaking whatsoever and lashes feel soft and yeah - like rubber! I'm not sure how the waterproof fares, but I can't imagine the formula would be much different.
This in my opinion is one of the best (if not the best) mascara's in the Volum Express line. And for less than $5 at Wal-Mart you just can't go wrong with this sweet little baby in your makeup bag!
This product was purchased by G&G for review! xx
